Ignite your core in this full-body Hot Pilates mat workout. Infuse functional fitness with Pilates principles in the infrared heat and fire up your flexibility and mobility while challenging strength and stability. 100-based challenges (reps, breaths, or seconds) in the 100-degree studio bring the heat!
Why Try Hot Pilates Mat?
Pilates is the ultimate supportive exercise. By building a rock-solid core, Pilates exercises do not tax the extremities, resulting in less stress on the joints, but more functional strength overall. When the element of 100-degree heat is added and 100-based challenges, the 45-minute format flies by in a flurry of fun!
What Is Hot Pilates Mat Like?
Hot! Classic Pilates exercises in a 100-degree infrared studio are infused with a contemporary twist in four positions: supine, seated, prone, and side-lying. Each segment of the class has its own 100-based challenge (either breaths, reps, or seconds), which propels the class to get stronger, together! This fiercely fun format flies by!
Who Are Hot Pilates Classes Best For?
2-3 sentences. Write about who the class is really for. Is it people new to fitness classes, or experts who’ve been taking them for years? Is this class for people looking to lose weight, build muscle, tone muscles, have fun, dance, cycle, lift, workout in a big group, small group, etc.? Explain the type of person who will enjoy this class most, giving people a better feel on whether or not it’s really for them.
Is Hot Pilates Mat a Good Workout?
Hot Pilates Mat is an excellent workout for anyone wishing to ease inflammation in their joints while building a powerful core.
Other benefits of exercising in the infrared heat include the following:
- Increased flexibility. Infrared heat directly heats the muscles, not just the air, allowing them to release more readily without injury.
- Detoxification. Impurities in your system are released as you sweat, allowing a natural release of toxins.
- Pain Relief. NIH (2006) reported infrared heat’s effectiveness in the treatment of back and knee pain by speeding healing, increasing oxygen uptake, and increasing endorphins.
- Increased Circulation. JASN (2007) cites a study which reported effectiveness in increasing blood flow, which oxygenates the organs and lowers blood pressure.
How Difficult is Hot Pilates Mat?
6/10. Although Hot Pilates Mat is a primarily seated exercise class, don’t expect a nap! Core work in the 100-degree heat is focused and active, especially when the 100-based challenges roll around! You will work up a sweat but finish feeling relaxed, long, and strong!
How Long Is Each Class?
This 45-minute format flies by! You’ll begin with a warmup that focuses on combining breath with movement, then progress to around 7 minutes of exercises in each of four positions, followed by a 100-based challenge for each segment. Your 3-minute cooldown will stretch all the muscles used in the workout.
What Should I Wear?
Wear what works best for movement in a 100-degree room. Your skin will feel heated, but the room is not hot or humid because of the infrared heating panels.
Cover Your Business. Typically, people wear fitted clothing what will offer ample coverage and will stay put, even while Rolling Like a Ball.
Leave Your Shoes Off. Not only does being barefoot help you with stability, but your overall balance and foot strength will improve as a result of working without shoes or socks on.
What Do I Need to Bring?
Plan to bring your own yoga mat. A yoga mat is a thin, sticky mat that will allow you to protect your joints without slipping around when you’re in an awkward position. You’ll be getting up-close and personal to the floor, so having your own yoga mat for Hot Pilates Mat and other classes in the Hot Stuff studio will keep you feeling so fresh and so clean!
Because the room is heated, having a mat towel and a hand towel at the ready will prevent you from slipping. Water in a leak-proof bottle will keep you hydrated and focused throughout the class. Pro tip: freeze water in your bottle the night before so it’s refreshingly cold throughout your class!
